Thankyou Eamonn McGarrity, Sacred Heart Primary School Pupils & Staff for what was an amazing evening of entertainment. Every show & performance you have ever put on for the friends and family of the school has always been fantastic in both showcasing the talent of the school/community and a testament to the commitment of teaching staff to encourage the talent that lies within all our children.
This time you have went to whole new level!!
The inclusion of current pupils, past pupils, parents, friends & neighbours of Sacred Heart Primary for me was just what made this an amazing community event.
The organisational skills, vision and musical talent of Eamonn (MD) was what made it happen and the talent that he unearthed was what it made it magical!!
Happy Christmas to you all.✨
Lisa Gourley - 29th Nov 2018

When the kids and staff of Sacred Heart send their get well wishes we are reminded of how lucky we are to be part of such a special and caring school. We are truly touched by all the well wishes and fun loving photos to keep us smiling when things are tough. Sometimes life throws you a raw deal as we see it but we are made stronger by the kindness and love sent to us. Thank you from our hearts........The Dalys xx
Louise Girvan - 28th Jun 2017
Thanks to Sacred Heart PS for another wonderful year. It takes a village to raise a child, and our children are extremely fortunate to have this warm and caring school community guiding them through. We wish Mrs Devlin the very best in her retirement. She will be sorely missed by the children and parents.
Mrs Armstrong - 16th Jun 2017
I would just like to say a huge "thank you" to all the children who took part in our production of Annie this year. I am so proud of each and everyone of you. You were all a pleasure to work with, you showed huge commitment and dedication in learning lines, songs and dance routines. Even though at times I'm sure you were all exhausted and tired of practising over and over, never once did I hear a complaint. You are the stars of the show and I enjoyed every minute of the directing and choreographing that it took to make our show the success it was. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and that you will remember this is experience for many years to come!
Lisa Gourley - 17th May 2017
First Holy Communion is a lovely occasion to celebrate as a family and community. Sacred Heart's, and in particular Ms Jones, efforts to make this a very special day were outstanding. The work that went into this event was admirable. Beautiful booklets that make a lovely keepsake, the children's little biographies on the Church wall, the fact that every child had a role in the ceremony, a delicious tea afterwards. It once again highlights how this little, rural school really is at the heart of our community. Other family members commented on how there were so many staff at the school helping, working and showing their support for the children who made the sacrament. It shows real commitment to give up a day off, especially in such sunny weather. The Gourley family really appreciate the work that went in to our memorable day.
Ciara Fox - 3rd May 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and pupils of Sacred Heart Primary School for making my experience as a third year student teacher a very positive and memorable one. I was made feel so comfortable and welcomed from day one. I can't thank Ms Jones enough for all her hard work and support during my 8 week placement. Ms Jones is a fantastic teacher and I'm so fortunate I had the opportunity to obeserve and learn from her. Also, to the P3/P4 children that I had the wonderful opportunity to teach. Thank you all for being a delight to teach and to work with. I wish you all the best for the remainder of the school year and for the upcoming school production. I hope to see you all soon. Ciara Fox (Third year St. Mary's University College student).
Lauren Cush - 11th Apr 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff of Sacred Heart Primary School for making me feel so welcome during my 8 week teaching practice. The warm friendly atmosphere put me at ease from day one, and this added to the enjoyment of my teaching experience. A special thanks to Mrs Armstrong for all her help and guidance and for being a great and inspiring mentor, and to all my pupils in Reception/ Primary One, who made my first foundation stage teaching experience a truly amazing and memorable one! Wishing you all the best for the rest of the school year, and I look forward to seeing you all soon at the show! Lauren Cush. (Third year St. Mary's University College student).
Lisa Gourley - 28th Feb 2017
I admire the 'bravery' of Mrs McKernan having the children make bird feeders with butter! Grace was very enthused and enjoyed the sensory experience. She also is a font of bird facts now. Great fun and love that it subtly incorporated the idea of stewardship.
Oliver Molloy - 1st Dec 2016
Great videos and pics from the history project, rescuers did well to get through those stormy seas.some very dramatic waves.
Maurice Hayden - 28th Sep 2016
It's great to see all the present pupils of the rock having great fun it's great to see everyone having the same fun I had. Missing the school so much will visit sometime
Lisa Gourley - 28th Jun 2016
Wonderful family fun day yesterday that was enjoyed by all who attended. All the staff at Sacred Heart put in a lot of work to have such an event run so smoothly. It was greatly appreciated and I know it was a day that will definitely be remembered by my children.
Oliver Molloy - 31st May 2016
Taking another look on the website. Great to see all that's going on. Keep up the good work.
Lisa Gourley - 25th May 2016
I just wanted to commend the children for their contribution to the GAC Centenary Celebrations. I'm not even a Rock native and I was filled with pride on Sunday watching our young community gather to mark the occasion. The school did a wonderful job organising the choir and helping co-ordinate the children. A memory for all the children to cherish.
Eric - 24th May 2016
Very impressive school. All the teachers and staff are very friendly and helpful. The school is very good at organising events around showcasing the children's talents and encouraging them to participate in these events. The website is very good and helpful with up to date photos of the students progress during the year..
Anne Clerkin - 19th May 2016
I just wanted to say how fortunate we are to have our children at such a great school where the kids are encouraged, challenged and supported in learning. The teaching is consistent from year to year and I really don't know where the teachers get the energy from ...but whatever you're on can I have some too!! Thank you to the whole school community and keep up the good work.
Lisa Gourley - 27th Apr 2016
Have just dipped in again to view the website. I'm so impressed at the varied range of activities the children are involved in. My youngest took part in yoga, while another was finding where their food comes from and yet another where our water is sourced. I'm learning new things never mind my children! I also love the P.3 reading corner. My daughter really enjoys getting to sit here and I love to see her literacy skills and confidence improve.
Patrick Gallagher - 9th Apr 2016
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the staff at Sacred Heart Primary School for their warm welcome and continuous support during my Third Year School Experience. I was fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to teach the primary 3/4 children, who were always very responsive, friendly and courteous to me during my time in the classroom. The hard working staff are highly committed to the development of each child and they should be proud of the sense of community spirit and ethos which is evident throughout all aspects of the school life. A special word of thanks must go to Miss Jones for her guidance, support and expertise - which ensured that I had a very enjoyable and successful experience. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Patrick Gallagher (St. Mary’s University College, Belfast).
Lesley Donaghy - 5th Apr 2016

Love the new website! It keeps me up to date with all I need to know! Get to see what activities etc James gets up to on the weekly reception update! They get to do so much and so many different things! Really boosts their confidence! Keep up the good work Sacred Heart!

L Gourley - 27th Mar 2016
Love the new website. There is a dizzying array of information. It's wonderful to have this facility to keep parents updated. To be honest the happy kids coming home from Sacred Heart say it all. A wonderful wee community that nurtures all aspects of my children's development. I'm especially impressed with the recent Irish taster lessons. Desmond Og loved these lessons and genuinely developed a more sophisticated knowledge of the Irish language. He loved impressing family with his new-found language skills.
Briege Conway - 25th Mar 2016
The new web page looks fab! Such a great insight into their school lives. Thanks to all the teachers for their continued hard work and dedication for all our young rock people.
Mary Lagan - 25th Mar 2016
loving the new up-dated website 😊. My girls love going to this great wee school everyday, as did their older brother and sister. I love how Eunan and his great team involved nurture all the kids to their potential.. It's shows in all the fantastic performances lately that the school have put on for us.. Keep up the great work everyone! It's much appreciated, and I'm sure everyone will agree πŸ˜€πŸšŒπŸ“πŸ–Œ

Eimear Mcveigh - 17th Dec 2015
Just wanted to say a massive thanks to the staff, pupils and parents of Sacred Heart primary for their recent contribution to my fundraiser "getting jiggy with it" in memory of my late dear friend Ronan Hughes. The total amount raised on the night was Β£4,500 to which Sacred Heart contributed Β£158 through a non uniform day and raffle purchases (the only primary school to do so!). I am so thankful for all your continued support, 7 years on! I can't thank you all enough!
Go raibh mile maith agat ! :)
Tracey McGeehan - 17th Aug 2015
Forget any new releases in the cinema. There's never been such a buzz about getting to see a DVD before as there is in this house this evening....none other than the 2015 production by Sacred Heart Primary.
Such a display of talent, much of which I think was discovered during the lead up to the event which just shows the belief and commitment that all the staff have in our children to do their best at what they're good at and even something they haven't or maybe wouldn't have tried otherwise. You know it's good when your filled with pride for all the children and not just your own.
Thank you!!
Adrian Nugent - 24th Jun 2015
Fantastic show tonight in Sacred Heart Primary School - credit to all the staff in the school and the past pupils. The children are fantastic and the P7 class will never forget their send off in 2015. Congratulations.
Lisa Gourley - 14th May 2015
Desmond and Aoife returned from their day at An Creggan full of stories and smiles. They really enjoyed the outing and were enthused describing all the mini-beasts. The marshmallows were a definite hit!! Thank you to all your staff for making such an effort to continually engage the children in new ways.
Louise Girvan - 12th May 2015
Thank you so much to Miss Jones and the rest of the staff at Sacred Heart. We had a lovely day at Holy Communion on Saturday 9th May. The tea afterwards was also fabulous. Fantastic day all round.
Catherine Sherry - 22nd Apr 2015
Finally back in University after a busy but wonderful School Experience placement in Sacred Heart P.S. What a brilliant and supportive staff who made me feel part of the school community from day one. I have learned so much from the staff especially Mrs Armstrong who was an inspiring and conscientious mentor. I have taken away memories of the friendly and hard working ethos and the creative skills and talents of all the pupils.
Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome and in particular all my Reception and Primary One pupils who made learning and teaching an enjoyable and successful experience!! I look forward to seeing you all soon. Catherine Sherry
(Final year student at Saint Mary's University College, Belfast)

Breda O'Kane - 27th Mar 2015
Thank you to the entire staff at Sacred Heart Primary School for their warm welcome and support during my school experience this year. As a student teacher I have had the opportunity to experience first hand the stimulating environment in the school, and the excellent opportunities for learning both inside and outside the classroom. I have learnt so much during my time teaching Key Stage 2 which will assist me in my professional development as a teacher. A huge thank you to all staff, and a special word of thanks to Master McGinn and Mrs Daly. It has been wonderful!
Lisa Gourley - 25th Mar 2015
I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the school's accelerated reading programme. It is a fantastic tool in encouraging reading, especially in boys. The programme has really motivated Desmond. While he has enjoyed reading anyway he is now turning to his books at every opportunity (even during the drive to school) so that he can meet his targets and progress to the next level. Unbeknownst to him, it is also improving his fluidity, vocabulary range and has really helped his confidence. A great initiative. I really look forward to my other children joining soon too.
Eamon & Ursula Daly - 11th Mar 2015
As parents today we feel very proud to be a part of the school community. Sacred Heart continues to give each and every child an opportunity to shine!!! With 3 little Dalys singing, dancing and playing guitar today at assembly,we would like to especially thank Mrs Carberry, Miss Sherry and Eamon........your talents enrich the talents of our children!
Eamon McGarrity - 11th Mar 2015

The excitement of the World Cup Tournament took over our house this evening. Aine was so engrossed in the whole event.....also Leah and aoife got involved in the build up yesterday evening....and too were interested in it. Very successful event..
Sandra Quinn - 3rd Jun 2014
What more could our two teachers do for the school and our kids. The whole community support you and it has created such a buzz with the little ones to be involved in such a huge event doing something that they all love so passionately. This is a huge opportunity for the kids to show off their love for Irish dancing and it is a great experience to give them confidence at dancing to a big crowd, they truly are living the dream. I wish you both the very best of luck.
Sandra Quinn - 24th Mar 2014
The dressing of the doors - what a great idea, there was a lot of talk about this in our house. Leah was asking me quite a few questions about 'The children of Lir' and other stories alike and it brought back a lot of my own childhood memories especially when Leah filled in the bits I was missing - memory not what it used to be. She enjoyed the colouring in of the swans and got really into the story. She just told me this evening that p6 door won 'Best Dressed Door'. Well done p6, but I think each of the doors were great and I enjoyed listening to all my girls telling me the story behind each of the doors. Another very successful project Rock School.
Naomi Braithwaite - NICFC - 4th Mar 2014
