School Council, Sacred Heart PS Rock

1st Sep 2015

At Halloween the School Council organised a Healty Break for the whole school to celebrate the Healy Break effeorts within the school.  Together we are a Healy school and the School Councillors promote with all the children.

At Christmas as a School Council we decided to all contribute to the Christmas Tree.  Each pupil designed and decorated a star to share the idea of Christmas together as a whole school.

Our charity work this year was 'Help The Heartbeat.'  Together with the P3/4 class we had a 'Have a Heart Red Day' and each pupil donated to the charity.

Pancake Tuesday is a day we all look forward to every year as we make pancakes with the help of Mrs Cush for the whole school.  We then know that Lent is the next day and we begin to prepare for Easter together.

For St.  Patrick's Day we organised an Assembly and invited our families and friends to join us celebrating St. Patrick using our gifts and talents.

This year at Easter we gathered our ideas to raise funds for a new school website, Accelerated Reader and resources for our Reception/After schools.  The School Council decided that an Easter Raffle was the best way to raise funds and that every pupil would be involved.  We brought our ideas to Master McGinn and he was delighted to help us get the tickets and prizes sorted.  We thought an excellent 1st prize would be a weekend away in a hotel and Master McGinn agreed.

AS a School Council we promoted the competition run by our local club to design a new Centenary jersey.  Rachel won the competition and her design will now be made and sold as part of the club's Centenary celebrations.

We are always looking to make our school an even better place to be and we continue to think about how we can make improvements.  We decided that the fences in the playground needed painted and we worked with Mrs Daly to think about how we could paint them.  Every child in our school is equally important and we thought it was only fair that every child got to paint a flower on the fence.

We are also working this year to increase our links with our community that we are very much a part of.  We have been involved in enriching our link by linking our school and community choir for important events.
