Our Week in Reception and Primary One

21st Apr 2016

What a beautiful sunny week we have had in school!!

We have continued our work on the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The caterpillar ate different foods on different days of the week, and this helped us to sequence the days of the week...We think Saturday and Sunday are our favourite days so far! :)

We discovered how Eric Carle made the pictures for his story, he painted tissue paper many types to make a layered effect. This prompted us to make our own tissue paper fruit for our Very Hungry Caterpillar board.

The sun has been shining high in the sky this week and so we enjoyed our play in the sun, its great to get outside in the fresh air. We loved playing on the bikes and scooters, painting in the sun, playing with dinosaurs in the tuff tray, drawing pictures on the ground with chalk...we even practised writing some letters and numbers! We built castles with the small building blocks and boats with the large building blocks. We practised our throwing and catching a ball to a friend. After we tidied the outside toys we talked about what we did during our plenary session, we asked each other questions about our play.

We continued our work on addition and tried some addition activities independently.

We developed our creativity by constructing paper chain caterpillars, making symmetry butterflies, drawing some caterpillars and butterflies on the Interactive Whiteboard, and moving our whole bodies to the song "There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf" ...watch our video and see how well we performed.

To end the week we enjoyed the Very Hungry Caterpillar yoga..we felt very Zen and relaxed after that! Watch out video to see how good we are at our yoga postures!
