DINOSAURS

4th Apr 2016

We had lots of fun discovering facts and information about Dinosaurs during our World Around Us topic. We became palaeontologists in the role-play area, digging, dissecting and arranging fossils, measuring and recording.

In Art, we used watercolours, pastels and pencils to draw different types of dinosaurs.

We worked together creating a Dinosaur wall story, a huge pastel T-Rex, a Jurassic Park and a Dinosaur Carroll diagram.

We carried out lots of research, sorting herbivores, carnivores and omnivores, creating Fact files and Comic Life posters.

Using articles on News desk, we researched why volcanoes are linked to the extinction of dinosaurs and we looked at prehistoric footprints found in Scotland.

'Andy's Dinosaur Adventures' on the Interactive Whiteboard helped us relax and learn new information about different land, sea and air dinosaurs.

We enjoyed lots of literacy activities focused on the series of books: 'Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs'.

We were really excited when we got the opportunity to explore a real ammonite fossil discovered in Madagascar. We used magnifying glasses to get a really close look at the different textures and colours!
